Relaxed Coffee / Tea / Cake / Lunch and Chat in Southwark

Join us for some relaxed conversation over a tea, coffee or another drink at the Uncommon Cafe, which is close to the Tate Modern in Southwark. The venue also has very tasty sandwiches, cakes and other snacks. If the weather is kind to us, we will sitting outside in the area shown in the photo, otherwise we will be inside.

How to find us

• The closest station is London Bridge. If coming from London Bridge tube station, please exit using the Borough High Street exit. Once out of the station, walk down Southwark Street, which is the road with the blue bridge. Continue walking down Southwark Street until you get to Great Guildford Street, then turn right and walk to the Sumner Street / Park Street junction, which is where you will find the cafe.
• On the day of the meetup, I will let guests know what I am wearing and where I am sitting so you can find the group.
• If you still can’t find us, please check you are at the right venue and the date and time is correct.

What to expect

• We will usually be sat together as a large group, but there tends to be smaller group conversations of between two to five people within that group.
• Usually about half those who have RSVP’ed Yes will turn up.
• You are free to join and leave at any time during the event.
• You can remain in a conversation with the same people throughout, however, if you wish, you can use buying a drink as an opportunity to join a conversation with different people.
• The event will be held with one other group. I will add guests from the other groups as ‘my guests’.

A few tips for those who may be anxious about attending

• It is best to come with an open mind on what may happen during the event.
• There is no pressure to maintain conversation throughout. If you are not much of a talker, you can just listen, saviour your drink or soak up the atmosphere.
• When arriving or leaving, you do not need to say hello or goodbye if you prefer not to.
