Tim's walks: a wander down Fleet Street
Details
REPEAT: THE FIRST WALK FILLED UP
VERY QUICKLY
Join Tim for a walk round Fleet Street; the historic link between the wealth of the City of London and the power of royal Westminster. For centuries it was lined with the mansions of the rich and powerful and later became home to the legal and journalistic professions.
On this new walk, we'll visit three extraordinary museums:
2 Temple Place; once the offices of William Waldorf Astor, then the richest man in the world and today the venue for an exhibition on working class life in Britain.
Then
Twinings Tea Museum where the first thing they tell you is not to use boiling water to make tea
Finally
The museum in St Brides crypt which details the history of the church and Fleet Street over two thousand years.
We will end in a welcoming pub in Fleet Street at around 2pm so this will be a walk long in time but short in distance.
We meet outside 2 Temple Place at 11 am sharp, this is very close to Temple Tube. I'll do a short introduction outside for a few minutes before we go inside. There's a cafe and toilets inside the house. (If you've already been to the exhibition you can meet us any time in the house before we leave just before 12).
Cost is £12 payable by PayPal, bank transfer, card or cash on the day. Telephone in emergencies, O7846899I56
