My number is 07815009191 if you need to call.
We meet at Pret a Manger, Unit 21 St Georges Wharf SW8 2JW, opposite Vauxhall station and just before Vauxhall Bridge at 10.45 for tea or just outside it for the start of the walk at 11.15.
On this walk from Vauxhall station to Waterloo, we'll take in the greatest pleasure garden of them all where the avenue of lights astonished revellers. We'll see the the Oval cricket ground and its roots on Kennington Common, a Henry Moore sculpture on a council estate, Surrey's equivalent to the Tyburn execution site and the first adventure playground in the country.
We'll hear the story of the Chartists' failed insurrection when it rained and everyone went home, how the Black Prince got his nickname, how Charlie Chaplin struggled through childhood and how the Lambeth Walk got some people in trouble with Hitler and finally of the necropolis railway.
If you see unpaid by your name, just ignore it.
