MEET: Cafe Nero 273 Regent Street at 10.45 for tea or 11.15 for the start of the walk.

From the riot of Victorian gothic of William Butterfield's All Saints' Margaret Street and Fitzrovia chapel to the simplicity of Adam's houses of Fitzroy Square, this is an area often overlooked and full of surprises. It's where Virginia Woolf shocked her family when she moved to such a lowly area, and where Alistair Crowley shocked the nation with his dabbling on the dark side. It was a home for anarchists and others escaping persecution in Europe; home too to Mrs Hitler and Mr Schmidt and his much missed German restaurant.

What of Eric Gill's sculpture at the BBC, can you separate the man from the artist and was Prince Eddy caught in the gay brothel?

The cost is £!2 per head and you can pay this cash on the day or to my account number 75471878, sort code 090128.
