Tim’s Lost rivers of London: walk 4, the Westbourne
Details
In our fourth walk exploring the hidden rivers of London we travel down the Westbourne. It’s surely our poshest river in that it divides the royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea from the equally posh bits of Westminster and it flows past great buildings like Kensington Palace and the Chelsea Hospital.
The route should also be the most beautiful walk of all the hidden rivers. We’re only going to do the pretty parts of the river valley and that means walking through Hyde Park, Knightsbridge and the Chelsea Hospital. It should be pretty spectacular in the autumn colours. We will just do the last three miles of the river’s course before ending close to its disgorging into the Thames near Chelsea bridge.
We meet in the Italian Gardens Cafe in Hyde Park, just at opposite site Lancaster Gate tube at 1pm for a 1.15 pm start.
The charge is £12 payable by card, cash, bank transfer or PayPal.
