Jul 25 Just Play Mahjong Club(Chinese, American Styles &Japanese Riichi)
DA Aldgate Centre, 2 Leman St, London E1 8FA, London, GB### 📅 EVENT DETAILS
📍 Where: Aldgate Tower (just outside Aldgate East Station, Exit 1)
🙋 Who: Players who already know how to play with scores (not suitable for beginners)
☕ Included: Instructor help, free tea, coffee, and unbeatable vibes## 🀄 WANT TO PLAY MAHJONG REGULARLY?
Mahjong is still a niche board game in London — and since it needs 4 players, it can be hard to organise regular games with just your own friends or family.
In many parts of Asia, Mahjong parlours bring people together to play. While we’re not running a commercial Mahjong club, we are here to build a community.
Many of our players started as complete beginners in our workshops — and now they’re hooked! That’s why we created our 🎟️ Just Play tickets.### 🌏 DIFFERENT MAHJONG STYLES WELCOME
### 🇭🇰 Hong Kong Style (Main Style)
Our main style is Hong Kong Mahjong, with a 3 fan minimum to win.If you know how to play other Chinese styles like Taiwanese, Sichuan, or British Mahjong, you’re still welcome! We’ll provide scoring cards to help you adapt.
⚠️ However, these tables are not suitable for beginners. If you haven’t yet graduated from Level 1 or Level 2 of our workshops, or if you don’t know how to score, please join our learner workshops first to build confidence.### 🇯🇵 Japanese Riichi (New Community)
Riichi Mahjong is new to our community, but we love its fast pace and strategic complexity! If you already know how to play Riichi — **amazing! Please join us.**If you play Chinese Mahjong and want to try Riichi, one of our instructors or friendly regulars might help, but we can’t guarantee full teaching support yet. You're welcome to learn by playing alongside others.
### 🇺🇸 American Mahjong (New Community in 2026)
We’re excited to add American Mahjong to our offerings. It’s quite different from Chinese Mahjong, so we’ll run newbie workshops and regular Just Play sessions from 2026. Note: Just Play bookings require solid prior knowledge of American rules. However, we encourage cross‑style learning, so if you already know one style of Mahjong, learn another with us, so you can play at any table.
## 💷 OUR BEST PRICE PROMISE
We’re doing our best to keep Just Play tickets affordable for a 2-hour session — that’s our best price promise. 🙌
Unlike clubs that charge entry or venues that require a minimum spend, our ticket price covers only what’s needed: venue, staff, admin cost.
And yes — with a booked ticket, YOU ARE GUARNATEED A SEAT AT THE TABLE, and we also provide free tea, coffee, and the occasional festive treat. ☕🍪
We're not a charity, but we are deeply committed to creating a welcoming Mahjong community. 💛 Your support helps us keep the tiles clicking, and we love seeing familiar faces return week after week!## 📱 JOIN OUR MAHJONG WHATSAPP COMMUNITY
Stay connected with fellow players in our friendly WhatsApp group — a space to ask questions, get updates on upcoming events, and even arrange private games outside of our Saturday sessions. It's the easiest way to stay in the loop and grow your Mahjong circle!

July 25 Learn American Mahjong Workshop
DA Aldgate Centre, 2 Leman St, London E1 8FA, London, GBThis professionally designed workshop is perfect for beginners looking to learn American Mahjong, with instructor to guide you every step.
### 🀄 Learn To Play American Mahjong 🎉
Are you looking to learn American Mahjong specifically? Or are you already a Mahjong player, curious how different the American version really is?
It’s hard to find a place to learn and play American Mahjong in London — that’s why our Mahjong school has expanded to include it.### ✅ American Mahjong Is Unique!
We play most Mahjong styles at our club, and people often ask if we have a preference, or what really sets them apart. Chinese Mahjong is our root, but American Mahjong brings entirely new rules and fun mechanics like the Charleston. And let’s not forget the stylish tiles and mats — we’ve imported sets straight from the US, because if you’re playing American style, you’ve got to complete the whole look!
### ✅ What Will You Learn?
Starting from the fundamentals of American Mahjong — tile recognition, game setup, reading the National Mah Jongg League card, and, most importantly, how to play a full game with confidence. 🀄 No prior experience required — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to learn! 😊
American Mahjong isn’t as beginner-friendly as Chinese Mahjong. This first workshop covers all the foundations, but you’ll want two more sessions to really get comfortable — that’s what our own learning and teaching experience has taught us. It took us around 100 hours of play to get truly confident, which is why we’ve split the tutorials into three parts to help you graduate.### 🎓 Three Sessions to Graduate
• Workshop 1 — How to play a full game
• Workshop 2 — Strategies in different stages
• Workshop 3 — Scoring and being flexible
Ideally, you’ll join our Learner workshop three times, and we’ll update your tutorial along the way to help you graduate. Just as important: learn by playing. After covering the basics, you’ll practice with other players at the table for real game experience in a supportive environment. Our experienced instructor will guide you every step of the way — ask questions anytime!### 📦 What's Included?
✔️ Mahjong Instructor – Friendly expert guidance while you learn
✔️ Mahjong Worksheets – Step-by-step support designed for beginners
✔️ Free Tea & Coffee – Sip and play ☕
✔️ Festive Treats – Enjoy special Asian snacks (when available!) 🍡### 🧑🤝🧑 A Social Game In A Social Space
Mahjong isn't just about strategy—it's about connection. Come solo or bring friends and family! Our workshops are welcoming, inclusive, and full of good vibes. You might even leave with new Mahjong buddies. ✨
🧩 Note: While Mahjong is traditionally played with four players, there may be times when table numbers don’t divide evenly. In those cases, we’ll either combine players across tables to form full games or teach you how to enjoy 2- or 3-player Mahjong variations—so you’ll always get maximum play time and fun.
