London MongoDB User Group #6

London MongoDB User Group #6

Details

This month, we will have a discussion and testing of MongoDB's 2.2 release with Technical Director Alvin Richards, a talk from ClaimAble, a startup revolutionizing the Insurance Claims space, Roman Shtylman giving an overview of how to use MongoDB with Node.js, and a demo from Ernesto Ongaro of Jaspersoft on MongoDB Reporting and Analytics.

We will also have Kati Rolls aplenty from The Kati Roll Company (https://twitter.com/katirollcompany) -- trust us they are DELICIOUS!

ClaimAble

ClaimAble are just launching MongoDB in production and will discuss why they made the switch to MongoDB and how MongoDB's feature set and model are a good fit for their small team.

MongoDB 2.2

10gen's EMEA Technical Director Alvin Richards (https://twitter.com/jonnyeight/) will go over key features in MongoDB 2.2 such as the new aggregation framework, TTL collections and new concurrency fixes.

MongoDB and Node.js

Working with Node’s JavaScript means that MongoDB documents get their most natural representation — as JSON — right in the application layer. There’s also significant continuity between your application and the MongoDB shell, since the shell is essentially a JavaScript interpreter, so you don’t have to change languages when moving from application to database.

Roman Shtylman (https://plus.google.com/117103271947279491631/posts) will give an overview of how to use the two technologies in tandem, and at the end, you'll see why MongoDB and Node.js are often referred to as "A Match Made in Heaven"

Jaspersoft

Jaspersoft is the most widely-used business intelligence suite that leverages open source to power their analytics tools. Ernesto Ongaro (http://techpoet.blogspot.co.uk/) will be giving a talk on how tools within the Jaspersoft (http://www.jaspersoft.com/) suite can be used to run low-latency reports and analytics from MongoDB.

Don't forget: we are going to be giving away free t-shirts to anyone who RSVPs and brings a friend along to the London MongoDB User Group, on Jul 25. RSVP +1, make yourselves known to us on the night, and you'll get a free t-shirt.

If you are interested in giving a full length talk, a lightning talk please let us know.

As always, feel free to contact us if you have any questions about MongoDB!

We look forward to seeing you!
