Eric Matteson: My First 90 Days as CTO

Eric Matteson has 25 years experience including roles at Improbable Worlds, Amazon Game Studios and Blizzard Entertainment. He's recently joined Accurx as their new CTO, and he's joining us to talk about his first 90 days in the role, and talk us through the process and tools he's used to understand their organisation, code, and culture.

Ellie Rahimi: Path to AWS OpenSearch: When Serverless goes wrong

The choice between serverless and provisioned architectures is a crucial decision when working with AWS OpenSearch. While serverless solutions offer scalability and ease of management, they are not always the best fit for every use case. Provisioned setups, on the other hand, can provide greater control and predictable performance but come with their own trade-offs.

Along the way, there will also be a brief introduction to OpenSearch for those less familiar with it. Beyond the technical details, the discussion will focus on when serverless is the right choice and when a provisioned approach may be more suitable. Attendees will gain practical insights to help navigate these architectural decisions in their own projects.

Ellie Rahimi is a Senior Software engineer working at Trainline. She began her journey in software development as a game developer, publishing her own game and gaining valuable experience working with several small game companies. Over time, she transitioned into backend development, where she has continued to build her career as a software engineer specializing in .NET technologies. This journey has allowed her to continuously learn and grow while contributing to meaningful projects.
