Rook and Crossplane

I apologise for the late notification, but we have an opportunity to take advantage of Cloud Expo. The founder of Rook and Crossplane will be in London. As such, we will be diving into two open source projects in the Kubernetes ecosystem, Rook (https://rook.io) and Crossplane (https://crossplane.io). That's right, three hours of hardcore tech, beer, and pizza.

Rook is an open source cloud-native storage orchestrator for Kubernetes. It provides the platform, framework, and support for a diverse set of storage solutions to natively integrate with cloud-native environments. Rook was accepted as the first storage project hosted by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation in January 2018. We will explore the benefits and use cases of Rook, and we will also walk through the architecture that the project is built on.

Crossplane is a community driven open source project that offers workload portability across a wide range of cloud providers and on-premises environments. By adopting a multicloud strategy, organizations can reduce costs, use differentiated services, increase geographic presence, meet strict compliance policies, and more. However, running on multiple cloud providers requires a significant amount of engineering which can be prohibitive for the majority of organizations. We will discuss at length how the Crossplane project aims to solve these problems and provide a great experience for running in multicloud scenarios.

The schedule is:

• Everyone arrive at 1830 for beer and pizza;
• the first session starts at 1900;

• then we will complete the evening by 2100.
