What we’re about

Are you thirsting for a deeper meditation, an immersion into the profoundest silence and highest, wildest celebration? Then this is for you…

Do you love to meditate? Would you love to meditate more often with other meditators? Or are you just curious and would like to experience different approaches? You can!

We are delighted that the very successful Osho meditation retreats we used to run on Dartmoor will now continue – and very cheaply. They will happen at a more convenient and more available venue near London.

Our first three retreat weekends, October and November 2018 and January 2019, were brilliant. The next is 24th to 26th May. Previous retreats had the themes of “silence”, “witnessing” and “chakras”.

These are retreats for friends of Osho who’ve done Osho meditations before and just long to meditate together with other meditators. Newcomers are very welcome and the meditations and the basics of meditation will be explained. While we (Jyoti, Nitya, Islam) are organising the weekend, we do not regard ourselves as “leading” it; it is led by Osho. It is to fulfill the longing to meditate with fellow seekers.

“A meditator needs no personal guidance. A meditator, on the contrary, needs only one thing: the atmosphere of meditation. He needs other meditators; he needs to be surrounded by other meditators. Because whatever goes on happening within us is not only within us, it affects people who are close by. In this communion people are at different stages of meditation. To meditate with these people, just to sit silently with these people, and you will be pulled more and more towards your own intrinsic potentiality.” (from The Invitation, Chapter 12)

It is so very difficult to find a balance in our lives between the outer and the inner – so much of our time is spend focusing outwards. In our experience we need to actively pursue times that allow us to pay attention to our inner workings. Through retreats like these we find respite and a break from constantly engaging our minds.

Our aim is to provide a conducive environment and the company of friends over a weekend. We are not teachers, we will not dispense any advice or guidance on spiritual matters. We have extensive, personal experience of the meditation techniques and will give explanations regarding the techniques and some practical hints.

Speaking at a week long meditation retreat, OSHO says:

“For these eight days do not move in your old habit patterns. Do not say things which you have been saying always. The moment you remember, stop. You know you have said this so many times; you have been saying this to your wife for years, and you know what she will answer. Everything has become a routine, a mechanical repetition.“What I mean is: do not be a victim of the usual patterns here. Do not be concerned with anyone else. You are always concerned. Be concerned with yourself. Be totally selfish; be concerned with your own self. Enjoy your being, enjoy the surroundings, meditate with the group and alone, and be totally centred in yourself. Do not think about what others are doing. Do not think about it. Allow others to do whatsoever they want to do. Do not interfere with anyone. Even the idea of allowing others to do whatsoever they want to do will free you because you are unnecessarily burdened by others. Be totally selfish.”(from The Supreme Doctrine, chapter 1)

There will be Silent Sittings during which we will put the focus on witnessing – our body, our thoughts, our emotions, the sounds around us. We will also experiment with listening to OSHO speaking, with music, dance, and some of His unique meditation techniques.

The cost is only £125 for the weekend including food, accommodation and all the meditations
