Picture Hunt - Tower Of London

Details

The Tower of London is perhaps better known as a prison. The prisoners would be brought, via the river, from Westminster where they would have been tried and crowds would wait on the river bank to find out the verdict to see if they would be treated to the spectacle of a public execution.

Picture Hunts are a great new way to get up to speed with slices of London history while sleuthing around the area. This event takes place around the Tower grounds, not inside the paying part.

Everyone is presented with partial photos of objects in the area. Some well known, some well unknown! Your team mission is to find them.

What this means is that some backgrounds may have been removed, and you’re only going to be seeing bits of objects. This makes Picture Hunts more interesting and challenging, bringing out the best of your teams detecting skills.

You will also have a map of the area. It will be sub-divided into four sections, P, Q, R and S. Each photo will come from one of these. Teams of three to four depending on numbers. Or bring three guests with you! The clipboard holder enters one of the letters to note its area location. Dead simple, right?

We meet at Tower Hill underground exit. 90 minutes to do the hunt,

We have the usual prizes of chocolate, including some great new varieties, plus a selection of world famous war museum fridge magnets.

There is also an equal prize for the funniest team name judged by Sue, my glamorous assistant. Make Sue laugh and be in the running for an easy prize. So there’s everything to play for.

We'll mark up in the grounds if possible. Afterwards we retire to the Liberty Bounds Wetherspoon for refreshment.

Hunts are good fun and the proven experience so far is that members get to know each other better after working in teams as you all have to communicate. Great icebreakers. This is what Meetup is all about. Come and join us.

There is a £6 cash charge for this event. It is not necessary to buy tickets for the tower itself as we are operating in the grounds outside.

Contact number on the day is 07422334411 if your transport is delayed.

If you can’t make it, please cancel in good time using the “Edit RSVP” button. This frees up space for someone else to step in. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
