We are excited to announce the first meetup of the London.Robotics community! This event will be hosted by ARRIVAL at their West Kensington offices (see below).

Talk 1: Why build hands for robots?
Rich Walker, Managing Director, Shadow Robot Company, will explain why Shadow builds hands, how they got there, and what they saw and did on the way. There will be some insight into some of the areas where dexterity in robots is important, as well as some discussion of the problems that still exist in doing this.
Rich has been MD at Shadow Robot Company since 2007, and has been involved in robotics since he was a small programmer who wanted to write AI software for robots, and found the robots had to be built first. Rich has helped make Shadow a leading robotics technology company, as well as one of the few employee-owned robotics firms in the UK.

Talk 2: Next-Generation Flexible Robofacturing Technology
Giuseppe Montano, Chief of Product of Mobile Robotics at ARRIVAL, discusses the technical challenges of developing robofacturing technology capable of meeting the flexibility requirements of next-generation electric vehicle production systems.
Giuseppe Montano, a.k.a. Napo, has been developing space exploration technology for the European Space Agency and Airbus for more than 12 years. He specialises in planetary mobile robotics, robotic arms, mission-critical software and human-machine interaction. He is now Chief of Product for Mobile Robotics at ARRIVAL, where he leads the development of next-generation mobile robotics for flexible manufacturing applications.
