A world of pure imagination: October Meetup!
Hello fellow scanners. We are buzzing after the last event - pizza and chat at Fire and Stone in Covent Garden. Delicious people and fascinating food - strike that, reverse it. We were all sold out - so make sure you don't miss the next one! Since I was little, I've loved Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The movie with Gene Wilder, not that abomination from 2005 (CG Oompa Loompas? Puh-leeze! Creepy Depp? Nope.) There's that moment where they first step inside the factory, and the camera pans around - just magical. It wasn't just the chocolate, but the idea of a world filled with possibilities. That anything could be. In fact, the more unexpected the better! In the meetup this month, we'll explore the side of you that most people don't know about. What unexpected skills and knowledge do you have? What awesome adventures would you love to do? We'll talk about the possibilities you're holding back on. Especially the the ideas that give you butterflies. Plus we'll get to chat and socialise with other scanners! Come join us! Our goal is to: • connect with other scanners who understand us • share our passions and projects • use our creative ideas to help each other And Remember, isolation is the dream killer. Meeting 18.45 for 19.00 start at Green Rooms (1 min from Wood Green tube) https://www.greenrooms.london/ Price: £2.70 This provides a contribution to the group's Meetup fees and running costs and ensure you have a great experience. You, in turn, will receive the company of some wonderful scanners - which is priceless ;) Special note: Places are limited. Sign up to reserve your spot. Take care and see you soon! Sabrina and Sukh

    What we're about

This is a group by and for people wanting to meet other that has as many passions and ideas as themselves and to talk, discuss, share and listen to other like minded people.

    Are You A Scanner?

Are you fascinated by something different every week?

Do you love to create Art, Music, Writing, Websites, Products, Businesses?

Does the thought of concentrating on one topic, skill or job for the rest of your life horrify you?

Do you start lots of projects but rarely finish any of them?

Does trying to choose between all your interests stress you out?

Are you currently reading 5, 10 or even more books?

Then you are most likely a "Scanner" or a "Renaissance Soul". Barbara Sher coined the term “Scanner” back in 1994 and continue working on the topic in her book "Refuse to Choose!" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Refuse-Choose-Revolutionary-Program-Everything/dp/1594863032/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1374479801&sr=8-5&keywords=barbara+sher). Here (http://getmotivation.com/articlelib/articles/barbara_sher_scanner.html) is even more information.
Other terms used for the same people are Renaissance Souls, Polymaths or Multipotentialites, but we all share the same issue: There is not enough hours in a day or days in a year for us to be able to both set up a radio program, learn to play the flute, take a degree in philosophy AND be a full time yogi. Or play the drums, start a business, have a "normal job", kite surf and learn to draw (as is the case with myself).

To my experience there are a couple of things we do share that makes meeting up deliver extra value: Most scanners are very interesting people. Per definition they have many interesting life stories to tell. And scanners normally have loads of ideas and are not afraid to share them.

So, on that note: Please feel free to join to meet interesting people and share or listen to cool ideas!

PS! If joining you might also be interested in joining the Facebook Group "Scanners & Renaissance Souls" on Facebook.
