Film Synopsis:
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a 2012 American coming-of-age romantic drama film written and directed by Stephen Chbosky, and based on his 1999 novel.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1991. High school freshman Charlie is a wallflower, always watching life from the sidelines, until two senior students, Sam and her stepbrother Patrick, become his mentors, helping him discover the joys of friendship, music and love.
Charlie, a 15-year-old introvert, enters high school and is nervous about his new life. When he befriends his seniors, he learns to cope with his friend's suicide and his tumultuous past.
Logan Lerman stars as a teenager named Charlie who writes to an unnamed friend, and these epistles chronicle his trials, tribulations, and triumphs as he goes through his freshman year of high school. The film depicts his struggles with his, unbeknownst to him, post-traumatic stress disorder, as he goes through his journey in high school making new friends, portrayed by Emma Watson and Ezra Miller.
Production: Development
Chbosky incorporated both fictional ideas and personal experiences into the novel.[10] After five years with these elements in mind,[10] he had the idea of writing the novel during a difficult period in his life.[11] He was experiencing an unpleasant breakup of his own,[11] which led him to ask, "Why do good people let themselves get treated so badly?"[12] The author tried to answer the question with the sentence "we accept the love we think we deserve". This quote references the struggle of finding self love, encompassing one's life and hope for the future, and not just romantic love.[13]

Reviews:
This is my favourite movie I have ever watched I will have to watch this again and read the book
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a heartfelt and sincere adaptation that's bolstered by strong lead performances.
I love this movie especially the characters because of how authentic and close to reality they feel.
This was an excellent, heartfelt movie that is filled with a story that's interesting from the very beginning & holds your attention til the final moments. Loveable realistic characters, high quality acting, family & friendship dynamics, not your usual predictable film that shares a story of teens where everything ends happily ever after. Unexpected twists & turns. I like how this movie handled tough topics that are often part of life during the high school years
Wow! I absolutely loved it! It is Very well written and extremely well acted by Logan Lerman as Charley, Ezra Miller as Patrick, & Emma Watson as Sam, and Paul Rudd as their English teacher, & Mae Whitman, & all the others were very good in their roles too.
