Let's virtually visit 'Charles Darwin's' Galapagos Islands + Talk +Tour & Chat!

Well here we go again for another virtual visit! Really wish we could be here at the Galapagos Islands! 😎

However before we go for our 'holiday' into the unknown... This is the agenda for the afternoon:

To start we will pay a virtual visit to the National Portrait Gallery, where in a ten minute talk I will introduce you to the legendary Charles Darwin. Here's a little bit about the man: Charles Robert Darwin was an English naturalist, geologist and biologist, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution. His proposition that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestors is now widely accepted, and considered a foundational concept in science...

After this we will virtually visit Darwin's home Down House which is near Orpington in Kent - Chris Packham is very kindly doing the honours of giving the tour! 😉

We'll then go off to the Galápagos Islands which is a volcanic archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. It's considered one of the world's foremost destinations for wildlife-viewing. A province of Ecuador, it lies about 1,000 km off its coast. Its isolated terrain shelters a diversity of plant and animal species, many found nowhere else. Charles Darwin visited in 1835, and his observation of Galápagos' species later inspired his theory of evolution...

After all this, just for fun there will be a 'quickfire' quiz based on what you have seen... 😁

We have a form of etiquette, for example when you first enter the 'meeting room' you will be muted, I will unmute you as we start. However, when you are not speaking it is recommended that you mute yourself - this is so that others do not get a lot of background noise.
