Summer in the City: Shakespeare Art Trail + Open Air Theatre 'Othello' & Social!

Details
Let's celebrate the 25th year of Shakespeare's Globe! Where I will lead you on a brand new Art Trail which will commemorate many of his famous sayings...
They say: Over the next few weeks, to mark the 25th anniversary of Shakespeare’s Globe, Better Bankside has created an immersive Shakespeare Art Trail to bring the Great Bard’s voice back to Southwark, one of his favourite haunts. Nestled around the whole Bankside neighbourhood, reinterpreted by artists, will be appearing on walls, in green spaces and on windows, high and low.
The trail illustrates the ways in which Shakespeare’s 400 year old words continue to resonate, excite and inspire the artists and creative practitioners of today with works of photography and illustration, textile and graphic design, sound and light based projections alongside street art and installations by students of Borough Academy.
Bankside has collaborated with a myriad of artists, Shakespeare’s Globe, Borough Academy, Jack Arts, Art Academy, Bankside Gallery and a number of local businesses to create the trail.
Within an hour and a half we'll set out to see as many artworks as we can... Then, what better way to bring his works to life, but to see one of his famous plays - we'll head along to The Scoop to see Othello at the open air Amphitheatre. There's facilities for eats & drinks, toilets etc. Do feel free to bring a cushion and your own picnic...
Synopsis: Othello has it all. A recently married man of rank, he has enjoyed a glittering military career and has a successful future ahead of him. But Othello has enemies. Enemies that will do anything to bring him down. One of them, Iago, devises a sinister plot to undermine Othello’s reputation, tricking him into a jealous rage that ends in tragedy.
Love, jealousy, deception, murder. Othello is an edge-of-the-seat thriller. Changeling’s production promises to fizz with passion, intrigue and dark humour. Who needs Scandi noir when you’ve got Shakespeare?
The Meetup fee for this event is £4.00 – which is payable on the day.
