Bridging the Gap between SRE and MLOps

Details

Join us for our upcoming event where we will explore the emergence of MLOps as a solution for integrating AI models into applications, which requires a new type of engineer and skills. We will discuss the role of SREs in MLOps adoption and practices, as well as whether the industry already possesses the necessary skills for success.

πŸ“† Agenda

  • 18:00 Welcome to London SRE & food and drinks
  • 19:00 - Monika Rzepecka & Robert Grzankowski – SRE in MLOps: The Journey Yet to Have
  • 19:30 Second Talk - TBC
  • 20:00 Socialising and Networking
  • 20:30 Local Pub for more Networking

Monika Rzepecka – MLOps Analyst at GfK
Robert Grzankowski – Principal SRE at GfK
Title: SRE in MLOps: The Journey Yet to Have
Description: AI has taken the tech world by storm in recent years, and data scientists no longer spend months or years developing models that never make it to production. Instead, more and more companies are integrating AI models into their applications, which requires someone to help with deployment and operation in production. MLOps has emerged as a solution, attempting to define processes for models' lifecycles. This field presents new challenges compared to traditional application lifecycles, necessitating a new type of engineer and new skills. However, do we already possess these new skills and engineers required within the industry? Additionally, can SREs aid in MLOps adoption and practices, and benefit from involvement? These and other questions will be explored in an upcoming exploratory talk.

Marcus Vechiato - SRE and Platform Engineering Director at Stone
Title: Working Together: SRE & Platform Engineering
Description: Platform engineering and SRE have different approaches and goals, but they can yield great results when combined. Marcus will discuss how SRE can benefit from platform engineering and why platform engineering will not replace SRE. Additionally, he will explore how this approach can address the increased cognitive load that engineering teams are facing today.
