Gamedev Playground: Summer Edition
Details
The University of Greenwich Computing and Mathematical Sciences Department in conjunction with the London Unity Users Group (LUUG) is pleased to host game development talks and networking at the Stockwell Street Building (10 Stockwell St, London SE10 9BD). We'll be in the large lecture theatre near the building entrance and will have several speakers discussing game development, sharing tools and projects, and discussing the future of XR.
We'll have a few refreshments and opportunities to share your own game development projects with the group and meet others who are in the industry or studying to join the game development industry.
Speakers:
- Gary Barbon, Meta
An Introduction to VoiceSDK for Unity
Gary will share his experiences developing VoiceSDK, a free library for Unity (and Unreal) that brings the power of voice to games and apps. After reviewing key features, Gary will do a live demo of some samples and show how to use the SDK with some live coding
- Edmund Ward, ENGAGE XR
A Tour of ENGAGE XR creation tools
Insider tour of ENGAGE XR content creation tools including 3D model snapshotting, spatial recording, collaborative creation, and content editing with examples in both commercial and games directly from the senior product manager himself. He will also share a recent project he's built with them to host a murder mystery event.
- Martyn Broadhead, University of Greenwich
Using Marker-based Augmented Reality in Learning Tools
Martyn will show how Augmented Reality assists primary school children learning alphabetics and phonics, where multisensory techniques support struggling readers. His research makes use of focus groups to develop AR prototypes specifically designed for reading improvement.
- Blessing Odeleye, University of Greenwich:
Real-Time Threat Monitoring for Virtual Reality Environments
Blessing will dive deep into his research on Real-Time Threat Monitoring in Virtual Reality environments. Expect an intriguing mix of intellectual discourse via slides, topped off with a short but exciting demo video that adds a practical touch to the theory.
