Maybe she’s someone you’ve never heard of. Come and learn a few bits and pieces, you may be surprised. Or just come along anyway and chat with old friends and new strangers.

In 1792 Joanna Southcott, a domestic servant in Exeter, declared herself a visionary prophetess. Local harvest failures and food riots as well as international war and revolution provided the backdrop for her national mission to proclaim these disasters as signs that the Second Coming of Christ was imminent. Provincial preaching tours, numerous books, newspaper columns and posters won her thousands of followers across the country. In 1814, she announced herself pregnant by the Holy Spirit ...

We’ll be walking and talking about her life while wandering around the area and down through Regent's Park. Come join the fun and talk to friendly strangers.

We finish at Baker Street (Circle line) where we pop in to the Wetherspoon Metropolitan for quick refreshment.

This event is £6 cash. Please be early as we can only wait 10 minutes.

Don’t forget to cancel via the “Edit RSVP” button if you can’t make a walk. Please do this well in advance when you know, so it allows good notice for someone else to take your place. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
