Euston to Camden Lock via Mornington Crescent Story Walk

Details
Hello and welcome to LUA. We have been going since 2017 and still hold a regular member attendance on walks. We welcome your uploaded photos that take your attention of landmarks others may have missed. Costs and further info below.
During our routine look into the history of local areas, we sometimes come across events that warrant further investigation, and that’s what we do. If it’s odd or quirky, we’re on it!
Camden Town. Named after Charles Pratt, the first Earl of Camden, who started its development in 1791, Camden Town began life as little more than a handful of buildings beside a main road. Camden Town's expansion as a major centre came with the opening of the Regent's Canal to traffic in 1820.
Some of the featured stories from Camden are Oscar Wilde's desperate hotel refuge, indoor carnivals, artist rifle volunteers, wrong statues, a rare local mural, train towing, comedy radio tube stations, nationality war pubs, playright thoughts of strangulation, plus more...
Walk Start: Euston Underground. (Meet outside Pret, directly opposite Tube exit, where all the shops are).
Walk Finish: Camden Lock. (Wetherspoon Ice Wharf. Nearest tube Camden).
Distance: 3 miles. With a rest stop on the way.
Please note the new regular 1pm start. Please arrive 15 mins early as we now set off on time.
If you are late, there is a catchup mechanism where you can track us on a map. This link will be live one hour before and during the walk. https://glympse/!storywalks
Walks go ahead unless exceptional conditions. Please dress for the occasion. Bringing water and snacks is useful.
The walks are medium pace with intermittent local knowledge stops. It is your responsibility to keep the main group in view. As mentioned above, clicking the Glympse link shows you a map where we are during the walk if you become slightly detached. Our frequent stops allow you time to catch up.
Afterwards, some of us stop for refreshment and socialising in a nearby local, Wetherspoon's where possible. Or you may wish to explore the Camden Market.
There is a £7 cash/card charge for this event.
Don’t forget to cancel via the “Edit RSVP” button if you can’t make a walk. Please do this well in advance when you know, so it allows good notice for someone else to take your place.
Attendee numbers are always a concern for walk hosts whether large or small. We set an upper limit of 35 which is manageable if all attend, and also allows for minor drop out rates.
Walks are always a good place to chat with new members or catch up with old friends. If you can make it, we look forward to seeing you.
Best wishes. Steve.
