FREE Sweeney Todd Walking Tour

Details

Join leading London Horror Tour expert guide and historian Jenny on The Sweeney Todd tour, taking you to the shadowy alleyways off Fleet Street where Sweeney had his notorious barbers shop and Mrs Lovett had her infamous pie shop! Hear the story of how Sweeney chose his victims very carefully, robbed them, murdered them and disposed of their bodies with Mrs Lovett's help! See St Dunstan's church which aided these two to get rid of their victims bodies!

The tour is FREE to Meetup members but please bare in mind that some walkers who booked well in advance through other channels have paid £10 for their ticket, so please do not indicate to them that as a Meetup member you have received free entry as part of your membership.

If you feel that Jenny has given you a great tour, then at the end of the tour please feel free to give Jenny a tip as appreciation of this and for the tremendous passion and effort that she puts into the tour.

Please wrap up extra warm for a 2 outdoor evening winter tour, hat, scarf, gloves and layers are strongly recommended.

(this tour runs even if only a small number of our group are booked on to it and there may be some other walkers arriving too)

Also hear about other gruesome and ghostly happenings in this area, around the Temple which was built in the 12th century, it's connection to Jack the Ripper. Wander alleyways long forgotten and hear stories of strange hauntings and ghostly apparitions! See the site of Temple Bar where criminal's heads were displayed after execution in the 17th century. Also hear the tale of Sawney Bean and his family, they had a lot in common with Sweeney Todd as you will find out if you join us on this horror walk! Come and be terrified, if you dare!

(we strongly advise against eating a traditional London Pie & Mash supper immediately after taking the tour!)

For "The Da Vinci Code" fans seeing The Temple Church is an added treat as it features in both the book and the film. You will also see the famous and historic "Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese" pub, centuries old, and frequented by some of the world's greatest writers.
