Wild Foraging with Woodland Cooking and Breathwork
Details
Join this day of adventure and relaxation in Hackney Marshes and learn the art of wild foraging, creatively combined with restorative breathwork. This unique workshop is a wonderful opportunity to connect more deeply with the nature on your doorstep. The day begins with a grounding session led by Kerry from Together We Breathe, allowing you to settle in and connect with your surroundings. As you explore the local area, including Millfields Park and Walthamstow Marshes, you'll enjoy wild tasters prepared by Fergus The Forager. These will include tantalising syrups, sweet treats, and saps that will help you learn how to utilise the plants and herbs all around you. Your exploration will be interspersed with moments of mindful breathing, giving you precious time to simply be present. At lunchtime, you will enjoy a delicious wild soup eaten under the trees before carrying on with your plant adventure. The main hands-on activity of the day is learning how to make delicious wild dumplings. After gathering plants relevant to Chinese dumpling making, you will be guided in creating your own unique combinations of flavour. With Fergus’ expert help, you can then customise your dumplings with other plants collected during the forage – such as cow parsley, wild garlic, or perhaps even some fungi. As you enjoy your creations, you'll have the chance to ask any foraging questions you may have. The day finishes with a deep relaxation session, tying together all the wonderful aspects of wellbeing that nature provides. You are welcome to bring your own beverage and something light to sit or lie on.You will leave this immersive activity feeling deeply rested and nourished, taking home a completely new way of seeing the natural world and the skills to use its bounty. Please plan to meet by 10:30am at the west side entrance to the Middlesex Filter Beds Nature Reserve, located on the Canal Towpath opposite Millfields Park.
