October Meeting 1 - The Line of Beauty (Alan Hollinghurst)

Details
For our first meeting of October, we will discuss The Line of Beauty, Alan Hollinghurst's Booker Prize winning effort from 2004. His fourth novel, the Booker was added to prior wins of the Somerset Maugham Award (for the Swimming-Pool Library) and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize (for The Folding Star).
'A profound panorama of British politics, sex and society in the Thatcherite 1980s, Hollinghurst’s Booker Prize-winning novel sees naïve Nick Guest enter the orbit of a Tory MP and his glamorous family. '

The meeting will take place at Rosa’s Thai Cafe, King’s Cross. So join us on the Caledonian Road as we dive into this weighty novel over some delectable Thai dishes!
For those that are interested, there is a theatrical version of the book opening at the Almeida Theatre in October, though it is quite popular so tickets are hard to come by.
N.B. We will be charging an event fee of £3, non-refundable, to discourage no-shows and contribute to the running costs of the group. Please only sign up if you intend to come along as space is limited to make for an effective discussion!
