Talk Data (and AI) to Me

Details

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your continued support. We're really excited to announce the 4th Women in Data & AI London meet-up (it's also our one year anniversary since launching the meet-up, whoop whoop).

We're looking forward to hosting meet-up #4 and bringing you some insightful talks at our London HQ @ 100 Liverpool Street. There will be plenty of time to network and as per usual, we'll be providing pizza's and refreshments all night.

See you there!

#1 Dinda Calista | Analytics Lead @ Cleo
Start with the structure, then build hypothesis

You often hear the advice to start an analysis with a hypothesis. But in my experience, you might miss out on a bigger opportunity or a more comprehensive understanding of a problem by starting with a hypothesis. A better approach is to start with a problem structure in the form of an opportunity tree or a metric tree before you generate any new hypothesis. In this talk, Dinda will walk you through some real examples and tips on how to structure an analytics problem for a typical product team.

Dinda is an Analytics Lead at Cleo, heading multiple analytics teams across Marketing, Product Growth, and Quality. Previously, she was a Data Scientist at Meta (Facebook) and Trivago.

#2 Iwona Sulinska | Data Scientist @ ITV
Scalable ML in TV advertising

While many associate our brand with prominent reality shows and popular dramas such as ‘Love Island’ and ‘Mr Bates vs The Post Office,’ ITV is also a significant player in the advertising market. Through our streaming platform ITVX and free-to-air linear TV channels, we deliver mass simultaneous audiences and targeted advertising at scale. As a data-driven business, ITV integrates AI and Machine Learning into various aspects of our advertising processes. This presentation will demonstrate how we addressed engineering challenges using PySpark data products to scale our supply-side forecasting for linear advertising.

Iwona leads AI and ML product development within the Commercial Technology department at ITV. With extensive experience in data science, engineering, advanced analytics, and a PhD from Copenhagen Business School, she effectively bridges the gap between business and technology. Iwona’s professional interests are centred on AI strategy and the exploration of emerging technologies.

#3 Roxana Lungu | Senior Data Analyst @ Wise
Incident LLMs at Wise
Roxana has been in data analytics for around 7 years and currently works at Wise in the Platform Engineering department. Her current role is at the cross-over of analytics and engineering. She focuses on understanding software development lifecycle and productivity, deployment, incidents, root cause analysis and cost.

She previously worked at Twitch, on Marketing Data Science, and at Procter and Gamble on sales, financial and supply chain analytics. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, hiking and watching formula 1.
