Hey London friends! Welcome to the London Wood Figure Club!
If you enjoy working with your hands, exploring creative ideas, or simply want to unwind and connect with fellow makers — this group is for you!
We meet once a month in London to craft wooden figures inspired by cute characters, food, and nature. Each session is beginner-friendly and offers hands-on experience with woodworking techniques like sanding, polishing, and assembling — no prior experience needed!
What to Expect at Each Meetup:
- A fun, hands-on session crafting your own wooden figure
- Tools, gloves, and safety gear provided
- A casual, relaxed space to meet new friends
- Group sharing of creative ideas and project tips
- Opportunities to join future DIY themes or contribute ideas
Our goal is to build a warm, open space for local creatives and hobbyists to come together, explore new skills, and share their love of hands-on art.
Our first meetup will be held at Covent Garden Market (Market Kitchen Area), where you’ll get to create your own mini Cubone, Gastly, or a fruit character out of wood. There will also be other small pieces for you to practice on as you learn how to safely use basic tools.
You’ll get hands-on experience with sanding, polishing, waxing, and even assembling facial features using a rotary tool.
I did a version of this last year with some friends and had an absolute blast. This year, we’re hoping to make it a regular meetup and grow a little community around it.
Come join us and give it a try!

We're just getting started, so we ask for a small fee to cover material and venue costs. In future meetups, we hope to reuse tools and provide wood materials for free — our main goal is to grow a community of makers :)
