In the last days of the Second World War, a deserting soldier disrupts a tranquil and isolated mountain community. His arrival brings excitement and romance for one family, but tragedy lies in wait. Finding depth in the details of everyday life, Delpero’s painterly eye imbues her drama with intelligence and suspense, fulfilling the promise she showed with her debut film Maternal. Vermiglio is the Italian entry to the 2025 Oscars for Best International Film.
