London To Brighton Railway Show - A Grand Victorian Adventure

Details
Nowadays we're used to hopping on the train from London By The Sea to The Big Smoke , but join me on a trip back 180 years to discover how the London To Brighton line became one of the great engineering marvels of the Victorian era . Finished in 1841 it took three years to complete , cost £2.3 million to build and employed over 6000 workers . Political debates about the right route to take cost huge amounts of money .
Come on a trip down the line with me ( as long as you have the right ticket ) Stopping at all the major stations we will find out about
Merstham Tunnel - site of the first railway murder
Clayton Tunnel - Castle tops and train crashes
Ouse Valley Viaduct - the largest brick viaduct in the world
Air powered trains - a misadventure ahead of its time
Digging the chalk - how Victorian engineers managed to tunnel through the North and South Downs
Third class passengers - a windy experience
Tickets for this event are £3.00 each . Please pay here by RSVP'ing and I will send you the link and passcode via Meetup
