Rye - Pirates , Ports and Jazz

Details
A tour into historic Rye , one of the most unspoilt coastal towns in the country . Rye is small , perfectly preserved and bursting with history , from its place as one the " ancient towns " in Norman times , supporting the " cinque ports" , formed to protect the coast and trade with other countries . It's also bursting with music as it's the International Jazz Festival this weekend .
Rye became notorious for smuggling and the infamous Hawkhurst gang were known to operate here . Small enough to have largely escaped modern development yet with a wealth of history , this should be a great day out for all ( suitable for children aged 10 plus ) with jazz on the streets as well.
Look forward to seeing you there
Nick
Rye is only 90 minutes away from Brighton on the train and a discounted ticket will only cost around £ 10 return .
