LDN + Documentary Club: The King of Kong

Details

The Documentary Club is rounding off its summer season with one of our most-requested documentaries - the phenomenal The King of Kong (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0923752/).

On Wednesday 30th July at 6:30pm, they return to Shortwave Cinema (http://shortwavecinema.com/Shortwave.dll/Home) in London Bridge for another night of great stories and fantastic company. Join us!

As usual, tickets cost £10. (They're a not-for-profit, so every penny is split between the distributor, the venue hire and other event costs).

You can grab yours* here (this will be a popular one!): http://documentaryclub.co.uk/kingofkong/

*Please note you need to purchase your tickets in advance - your RSVP is not a reservation.

Why You'll Love It

It's a fascinating glimpse into the cut-throat, deadly serious world of diehard arcade gaming, but don't think that you have to like video games to love The King of Kong.

It's the human characters, not the pixelated ones that make this one of the most talked-about, rewatched, and adored documentaries of the past ten years (Rotten Tomatoes rating: 96%). A fresh-faced affable small-town hero and a mulleted Machiavellian hot sauce salesman are the respective hero and villain of the piece, battling it out in the world of competitive Donkey Kong playing.

As compelling, poignant and sheer laugh-out-loud fun a documentary as you're ever likely to see, The King of Kong is something rather special.
