The London Documentary Network and Bertha DocHouse regret to inform you that due to the developments of the situation surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19), we will have to postpone the Doc in a Day competition, warm-up event / social and screening.

While we are sad to make this decision, we think it’s the right thing to do under the circumstances, given that some of the users of our event may be adversely affected by attending. We will continue to monitor the situation, and will let you know as soon as we have a revised date.

As this is a sold out event, and we’ve had to turn down a lot of people, we’re giving you the chance to keep your ticket to the competition for when we do announce a new date. However, if you would like to arrange a refund please contact us directly ideally via Meetup.com and we will issue this to you.

If you’ve bought tickets for the screening event on the 29th of March, Bertha DocHouse (info@dochouse.org) will contact you separately to refund your tickets.

WIN THE OPPORTUNITY TO PITCH TO AN OSCAR NOMINATED PRODUCTION COMPANY

Doc in a Day is a filmmaking competition where participants create short documentary films in 36 hours.

Submitted films are judged by industry professionals, and the winning teams get the opportunity to pitch a film project to Spring Films – a twice Oscar nominated and BAFTA/Emmy winning factual production company (springfilms.tv). You'll also gain industry insights, as well as tips on how to get your work commissioned.

EXCITING NEWS For the first time, this event will be hosted in partnership with the Bertha DocHouse to celebrate the cinema's 5th anniversary. Films will be shown on the 150 seat Renoir screen at the DocHouse Cinema on the 29th March.

HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS

Saturday
10:30 – Gather to network and create teams (or come with a ready-made crew!)
11:30 – We pull a theme from a hat (also published on Twitter and Facebook). Recent examples include 'Truth', 'Change' and 'Thrill'.
11.31 – Go, go, go! Get planning, shooting and editing your films.

Sunday
23:00 – Deadline for submissions (via a dedicated WeTransfer link).

Screening Event
Where we show the best films made and documentary film professionals give feedback on them and announce a winner and runner up.

The cost covers both the competition and the screening event.

Some people come to this competition with years of experience and professional equipment; others make their very first doc this weekend. Doc in a Day is for EVERYONE!
