This is a short film (43mins) with an Q+A after.

When a film-maker follows a rumour of an internet purchase like no other, they unwittingly embark upon a five-year analogue odyssey, chasing their protagonist's dream, and forging a beautiful friendship along the way.

A tender and witty portrayal of craft and human endeavour in a digital age, Project Pipe Dreams charts the exploits and origins of an unassuming hero on a mission to leave the world a better place than he found it… one pipe at a time.

Gilbert escaped Apartheid South Africa in 1960 to start a new life in London. Now eighty-four years old, he has spent his life in quiet rebellion, fighting against the odds. Will this herculean task, to complete a massive 3000 pipe organ, prove too much for him? Or does he still have one last dream left to chase?
Project Pipe Dreams is a clarion call to follow your dreams, whatever your age.

As Gilbert says, “If you’ve had a yen to do something, and you’ve put it off and put it off for lots of reasons, it never goes away. It nags you all the time. Why didn’t I do that? So that’s me. Got a dream? Go with it man.”

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Manus Fraser, hosted by Head of Publications of the Royal College of Organists and Editor of The Lady Organist, Morwenna Campbell-Smith.
