Do people often fail to understand you, even though your grammar is correct? Do you wish to speak English with a more native-like accent that is easy for people to understand? Perhaps you can write grammatically correct sentences, but when it comes to conversation you have difficulty communicating due to poor pronunciation and intonation?
Whether you are a business person involved in high-stakes negotiations or a student giving presentations, communicating clearly and effectively is essential.
We'll start with the tools we can use to help you improve your pronunciation and listening skills. You'll be introduced to the phonemes of English, the International Phonetic Alphabet, and the Vowel Sound Chart.
The way we position the articulators (mouth, tongue, lips, and vocal cords, etc) varies from one language to another. Developing this awareness and understanding where the sounds resonate within the vocal tract is a fundamental step to adopting native-like pronunciation. We'll practise techniques to help you achieve this.
This workshop is aimed at non-native English speakers and English as a Second Language (ESL) students of all levels. However, anyone is welcome to attend including native English speakers. This pronunciation class focuses on RP, which stands for "Received Pronunciation".
All attendees will receive a complimentary £20 voucher redeemable at learn.receivedpronunciation.com.
After the workshop, participants will be welcome to join us for a drink at a nearby coffee shop.
