The Latest in Node.js

George Ornbo will share the latest in Node.js, a software system designed for writing scalable Internet applications using event-driven, asynchronous I/O to minimize overhead and maximize scalability. George is currently authoring "Sams Teach Yourself Node.js in 24 Hours", a beginner's book on Node.js. In this introductory talk on Node.js he will demonstrate Node's real-time capabilities, explore network programming and discuss Node's approach to concurrency.

Augmented Reality for Web Developers

Peter O'Shaughnessy is a developer in Pearson's Future Technologies team. His latest project - an Augmented Reality talking phrasebook for tourists - uses Wikitude's new ARchitect framework, which lets you create AR interfaces using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Peter will talk about the opportunities for Web Developers to start building AR applications using frameworks like ARchitect, as well as up-and-coming Web standards like WebRTC.
