What we’re about
Want to get better at playing pool and/or making friends? Great news! You’ll do both when you join us for a once-weekly takeover of the pool tables in Long Beach.
Friends are the focus, everything else is gravy. If you’re a novice we’ve got helpful YouTube links to get you started; if you’re mid you know how crucial it is to be nice and inclusive and KEEP PRACTICING; if you’re advanced you’re not reading this, congrats!
Far as I know, good LBC pool tables are found on Broadway (Blind Donkey, Broadway Bar, Sweetwater Saloon, The Hare) and 4th St (V-Room, The Hideout, O’Connell’s) so we’ll always hit some combination of those + new additions (looking at you 8-Ball LBC!) feel appropriate.
If you feel lost, we play/teach whatever combo of 8/9-Ball (2 or 4 player) & Cutthroat (3 player) makes sense for the crowd. I promise a little research helps lots.
This is not a billiards league or drinking club, it’s a tool for socializing around pool and shattering the samey-same of daily life with one of the cooler habits around. Come prepared to be a nice, welcoming person who’s eager to be nicer and more welcomingzer.
Sober friends are extremely welcome! People who are brave/hot enough to ask for an Uber home are welcome! Most of all, people who can walk into a bar and say “I’m here for the pool meetup group” until they find themselves playing pool with new friends are welcome! You’re cool, we all know it, come prove what we know!
