Backgammon On Long Island

New event:

NOTE: OUR VENUE CAPS OUR ATTENDANCE AT 28. WE WILL GIVE PRIORITY TO THOSE PLAYERS THAT HAVE BEEN ATTENDING CONSISTENTLY THE PAST TWO YEARS.
THOSE PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE AN “EARLY ALERT” EMAIL WHEN THE EVENT HAS BEEN POSTED. THEN, WHEN THE EVENT IS OFFICIALLY “ANNOUNCED” (AN EMAIL BLAST GOES OUT VIA MEETUP), THE REST OF THE PLAYERS WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO THEN RSVP.

WE ARE SORRY TO HAVE TO PUT THIS RESTRICTION IN PLACE, HOWEVER WE NEED TO DO THIS DUE TO THE SPACE CONSTRAINT.

We play regular weekly live backgammon tournaments on Tuesdays (although we'll occasionally need to move our tournament to another day or another venue in the event of a conflict at our playing venue). Start time is 7:15 pm; and you need to get there by 7:00 pm to sign in and pay the $10 fee, which guarantees you will play at least two matches - more of course if/when you win. $8 of the fee goes towards cash prizes for that night, and the other $2 is to pay for trophies, Meetup, and website upkeep.
Both experienced players and players that are new to the game are welcome to come and play.

Some rules and guidelines:

1. No outside food or beverage can be brought into the venue (this includes bottles of soda or water, coffee and things like Dunkin' Donuts), and the reason for that is…
2. Please be mindful that our venue is a business. We should all strive to support them by providing business as a good-will gesture in response to their having graciously agreed to act as a host for our regular events. Their food is quite good.
3. If possible, bring your backgammon board if you have one. If not, we have some extras if they are needed.

This "Bonus Night" was created because the growth of Backgammon On Long Island has resulted in more players wanting to participate than the primary venue can accommodate.

The format for this event can include organized tournament play, casual matches, or both, depending on attendance. This is being run separately than the weekly tournament events that are generally held on Tuesdays at Cornerstone, and thus is a "bonus night" in order to primarily allow people to play that are not able to join on Tuesday. If there is room to play and we are not at capacity, all who want to come are welcome (though see below if we hit capacity)!

The start time is 6:30pm; you need to get there beforehand to sign in. Both experienced players and players that are new to the game are welcome to come and play.
