We all know how much fun dancing at Niwot's Rock & Rails can be. One of the best Thursdays of the summer will be July 23.

Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts will play their special outlaw, new age country rock. It's described as "outlaw" because it doesn't fit the mold for The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Instead, think of the style of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. While they will play some cover tunes, most of their offerings will be their own original music. It will have you wishing they could play longer. They will keep the dance floor full.

Ryan Chrys on guitar, Susan Phelan on bass, and Michael Jochum on drums are all in the Colorado Country Music Hall Of Fame. You may also know Susan Phelan from her days as a professional wrestler or from her daily traffic reports on Denver I-heart radio.

Everyone has heard Michael Jochum on drums, they just didn't realize it. If you watched The Muppet TV show and remember Animal, the drummer, well, he'll be in the gazebo at Whistle Stop Park playing for you. Michael has also played with the Jackson Brown Band for a couple years. He was the drummer for the early 80s band, KORN. He has played with Michael Jackson on a couple of his albums. Michael was also the drummer on the Joan Rivers late night TV show. And much, much more! He is one of the best in the country.

Glenn Taylor rounds out the band on the slide steel guitar, where his play is beyond excellent! The more I see him, the more impressed I am. Glenn is quite possibly the best in Colorado.

Here is a sample of their music.

Arrive early to find a seat in the shade. Sit wherever you can. There will not be a designated area for us, which is usual for Whistle Stop Park.

AND bring your dancin' shoes (boots?). This will be a night to remember.
