- Supper Songs at Shelley's with The Earthtones Weds 4/19/2023
Fergus Stone and Jeff Haemer are The Earthtones.
Fergus and Jeff play banjo and mandolin, disrespectively.
We sing, too.
We mostly play old-time music, which is to bluegrass as blues is
to rock-and-roll: a predecessor, yet a distinct genre. In practice,
that's whatever we feel like playing. You've heard Fergus's dulcet radio voice on KGNU's "Old Grass, GNU
Grass," at countless music festivals through the mountain west that
he's MC'd, and perhaps even at a legendary, Charlie Papazian
Beer-&-Steer, where his jug band, The Iron Nipple Bluegrass Sheiks,
was a mainstay. Fergus is founder and proprietor of the popular
Boulder recording studio, "Audio's Amigos."Jeff knows Fergus, who lets him tag along. For forty years, 1978
through 2018, he hosted the Wednesday night, Boulder, old-timey jam,
which left permanent beer stains on his carpet. He's toured with both theGrange Hall Flyers and the Grouchy Geezers, and long ago lost count
of the squares and contradances he's played and music workshops
he's taught. We sometimes call ourselves "Fergus and Friends," both because Fergus
wants people to know he has more than one, and because Jeff is
schizophrenic.Get fired up for our once-a-month Wednesday night acoustic house concert series at Shelley’s!

- Sturtz! at Supper Songs - 3rd Wednesdays at Shelley's
This event is not yet open for RSVP.
Keep your eye on the meetup emails (sign up for our meetup group if you haven't) and our facebook group "Longmont Music Supper Club" to find out when you can sign up (generally 30-60 days prior to the event). In May, Sturtz joins us for Supper Songs!
---------------------------------
## STURTZ’S MUSIC STANDS OUT FOR ITS DISTINCTIVE, SOOTHING INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL HARMONIES.
The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Jim Herlihy [banjo], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello, and Will Kuepper [bass]– falls somewhere at the intersection of folk and soul, with lead singer Andrew Sturtz’s melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz is based in Boulder, CO, and has toured across the U.S. opening for groups like the Eli Young Band, Trout Steak Revival, Lillie Mae, and Smooth Hound Smith. NPR’s All Songs Considered described the band as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times” in their April 2020 blog. Sturtz released their debut album You’ve Done this Before in August 2021, and now they are hard at work touring on this album and writing songs for their next album. When they’re not playing music, you’ll probably find them milling flour, farming, laying in a creek, or eating native foliage.
