Conducting research on the future with Strategic Foresight leader Björn Theis

Unlike digital, developing deeptech - technologies that feed us, give us energy, heal us, restore the environment, and make the materials that house, clothe, and transport us - takes time. Sometimes years or decades. How do companies investing € billions into making them, make decisions about them? The answer is Strategic foresight. It's a set of tools, data, and practices for turning speculation into action, and few people have as much experience in the field as our next speaker and his team. In this talk, Björn Theis will talk about how to research the future. How can companies know what to do today, to be ready for 2025, 2030, 2040, or beyond? What skills and techniques can you adopt and apply to help your startup, corporation, or ministry build a prosperous future?

Björn Theis is Vice President, Head of Foresight at Evonik. He holds a master's degree in cultural anthropology, philosophy, and English from the University of Cologne. Björn Theis teaches futures research at various universities, is one founder of the Conjectural Futures Network, and is a member of the Future Circle of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
