What we’re about
This group embodies the essence of the Ghanaian word Sankofa, which means "to look back to the past so we may understand how we became who we are." Our primary goal is to support our members in exploring their ancestry and uncovering their family history. We believe that by delving into our past, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our cultural heritage.
To achieve this goal, we provide various resources and activities that focus on genealogy and family history research. Our group utilizes genealogy sources and tools to help members trace their lineage and uncover their ancestral roots. We organize group workshops where members can learn and share their knowledge and experiences in genealogical research. Additionally, we invite expert speakers who can provide valuable insights and guidance on navigating the complexities of ancestral exploration.
By joining our group, you will have the opportunity to learn how to uncover your family history alongside like-minded individuals who share a passion for genealogy. You will be part of a supportive community that encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing, and personal growth. Whether you are just starting your genealogical journey or have been researching for years, our group welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Together, we embark on an ancestral journey that helps us piece together the puzzle of our past, fostering a greater appreciation for our heritage and a stronger sense of self. If you are interested in exploring your family history and connecting with others who share this interest, we invite you to join us on this remarkable adventure of self-discovery.
