Bringing this back by request after a long hiatus. Let’s collaborate on writing riffs/chord progressions/songs to jam to. This is about creating together!

Jamming is a lot of fun. Playing on stage is a lot of fun. Playing for a crowd is a blast. Writing/creating songs is on a whole other level. These sessions will be different from the others, as the focus will be on the group collaborating together to write songs. There are many different ways that songs are created, and can come from many different inspirations. Sometimes it’s an emotion for another person; sometimes its the sounds of everyday life that spark a riff inside of you that you just can’t wait to share with other; sometimes it’s a message that you want to get out to the world; sometimes it’s because we are happy or sad —- it doesn’t really matter what it’s about or where it comes from or how it starts. The reason for these sessions is to bring those songs inside of you to life. So if you have been sitting on a riff, or a chord progression, or a drum beat, or a some lyrics/vocal melodies, or whatever —- bring it all to the sessions and we will write that song together! We will also be doing some “free jamming” for creativity.

👉Bring in some riffs/songs/partial songs/lyrics/melodies etc that you have and we'll write some songs together. The theme of these sessions are to write together. But bring out any songs that have been collecting dust that you want to bring to life again and play them with others.

👉We will also “just jam” to some simple riffs/chord progressions, like we've done previously. These little “jams” help creativity, develop strength in playing both individually and as a group, and most importantly are fun!

I have got lots of requests for an acoustic jam session, so this time lets leave are electric guitars at home.
We will still use electric drum set and keys if we have players for them.

(Please Read All.) I am working on choosing a couple new songs, to begin are next setlist, so check back for updates. It would be good for people to try them out, and practice them before hand. :o)

Let's practice some guitar skills, learn a new song, and have some fun jamming, open mic, and practicing some of the songs on are setlist.

We are looking for singers, drummers, keyboard players, etc., so if you know anyone that you think would be a good fit for this group, please let them know.

We are going to break this meetup into 3 parts.

• 1. Fun all play jam along with backing tracks.
• 2. Open mic. (We will have around 35 minutes for people to perform a song for the group if they wish.)
• 3. No backing track practice of a specific set list.

It's is very hard to get several people to play the same song at the same time and to listen to and give and receive guidance and suggestions. Because of this there is going to be a strict, "No Noodling Policy", in between songs. This will insure the whole group can be on the same page and focus on the selected songs and specific instructions for intros, solos, dynamics etc. I will embellish on this more at the meetup. I would appreciate any help the group can give me especially in the beginning with this while we are trying to find are stride.

Beginners feel free to come 30 minutes early, so 5:30pm if you want to learn or go over a song or certain guitar techniques.

We are going to take over the Looney-Bin Studio rent, so we will be asking people donate $20 to help keep the lights on. I am set up to accept Cash, PayPal, Zelle or Venmo.

Don't worry when it says unpaid but your name, it's just how meetup is setup.

This is not a jam or large-group generalized instructions. This is a small-sized group, with personalized guitar lessons and guidance to help you reach your desires with playing guitar and music.

With these lessons, we will be focusing on areas that you want to learn and improve on. Common elements we work on:

Open chords, barre chords, rhythm, riffs, melody, bits of theory to get you moving around, soloing, learning elements from songs, playing with others, playing with a beat to help on timing/tempo

These guitar lessons come from 25 + years of real-world playing live music and guitar (sometimes bass) with countless bands, fellow musicians, fellow instructors, fellow students, members of this SJJS meetup group -- including our very own Freewheel Brewery public Jams - members of other music groups, friends, family, people of all ages. I'm very experienced with many years of teaching others not only play the guitar, but also how to play with others in jams, bands, social environments, and even our monthly public Freewheel Jams. Music is my main passion in life, and I very much enjoy helping others achieve the type of fulfillment they wish to, through music and their instrument.

I ask each person what areas they want to work on, improve on, and focus on. I like to learn what they would like out of the lessons and their journey with playing. I tailor the lessons to include the elements they want to work on, and then provide areas to practice at home if they'd like. It all depends on what you would like to get from your playing/learning. Once you sign up, I’ll reach out to you for the areas you want to work on.

Notice ADDITIONAL timeframe - 11AM -1PM. There have been requests for earlier sessions. This will be in addition to any evening lessons and sessions, not replacing those. These lessons will also be at various timeframes, including the regular after work hours/days we have been having for years.
