About us
Here is a new group for adults interested in learning to play guitar, having fun, and meeting new people.
This is a FREE group for beginners.
Check out this video and please share it with your friends if you know someone locally who is interested in learning to play guitar.
Meetups will include a beginner song lesson (Mostly from You Tube or other social media) and other activities.
As much as possible we would like to learn songs the group is interested in learning, so message me with any song request.
Interested members can also take turns leading the group an teaching them songs and tips they have learned.
This is a brand new group, so if you have any tips or ideas to make this group better please message them to me.

The Freewheel Brewing Co. Jam on 4/26/26! (SJJS Public Jam)
Freewheel Brewing Company, 3736 Florence St, Redwood City, CA, USHi SJJS Jammers and Looney-Tunez! This is the announcement that it is time once again for our Freewheel Jam!
🔥Songs for the Jam - Songs for this jam with be primarily the bulk of previous jams and ones we've been playing at the pop up jams, with some songs rotated out/in, along with a handful of new songs. Song list to be posted in a few days.
🔥Sign up for the jam here on Meetup, but also indicate which of the songs you COULD/WOULD like to play on the below Google Sheet (when added). I will send out notifications when the set lists are posted.
🔥PLEASE NOTE - SIGN UPS WILL BE CLOSED within 7 days of songs posting, so please sign up as soon as you can -- This is so that the set lists can be finalized early, which will help everyone know what they will be playing at the jam.
There is not necessarily a cap of the numbers that can attend. However, the Meetup event will say something like “Attendee Limit 1” as the number for the event, but everyone that signs up will go on the waitlist. This is based on the details below how the event will be run differently than usual. I will add people to the “going” as I get details from those that sign up on the song list signup sheet above.
Additionally, everyone doesn’t get the meetup notifications so I’ve started a Telegram app group channel, both for the group (https://t.me/sanjosejamsessions) and for the Freewheel Jams (https://t.me/sjjsfreewheel) . Now you don’t have to rely on just the Meetup app for updates/announcements on the group/jams.

Note to All Players - Please bring the items you would need to play your instrument and so that it can be plugged into the mixer (i.e singer bring mic/mic stand/XLR cable, guitar bring your rig plus mic for amp and XLR cable). If you are sharing an amp already in use, you don't need to bring anything extra. This helps setup time and ensures we have the right amount of equipment needed. Reach out to Joey if you don't have the needed items so that we can accommodate.Details on the Jam:
This jam is being hosted at The Freewheel Brewing company in Redwood City. It is s a public outdoor event where they have food and drinks purchase and enjoy, a place for us to play our music, and plenty of space to hang out. This became a regular/recurring/monthly event there last Sunday of the month here last year.
We will have a full PA and backline of drums and bass set up, mics, input for keyboards into the mixer, along with guitar amps (or yours) already in place. If there are multiple keyboards, we talk within them and decide if sharing keys are bringing your own works for each particular jam. Guitars would bring their own guitars AND amps
While this event is in public and open to anyone to come out and watch, the actual performance aspect of it is open to members of San Jose Jam Sessions Meetup and Looney-Tunez, and there may be some other guests that play with us. Additionally, we may have some spotlights/showcase on other SJJS members and Looney-Tunez members, both solo and bands. Here are the basics and will add more as needed:
- The event is 12pm - 4PM (which is longer than usual). While it is a great time to hang our with our fellow jammers for the full event, you don't have to stay for the whole time if you cannot.
- There will be about 35-40 songs on the list, mostly made up of songs that we have played already in the jams. This lessens the learning songs process, and already has built in success with the group playing them.
- We wouldn’t be doing our usual run through each song multiple times before going on to the next, but rather going through it like a performance, which would give the public more of a real show. However, we will be running the songs more than once.
- Not only would you sign up for the jam, but also indicate which songs you COULD/WOULD LIKE to play. The song sign up list link is above that everyone can fill in, and from there I will put the set lists together prior to jam day
- There would likely be at least one rehearsal session prior to the event so that we can run through the sets, making for a tighter experience during the jam. Additionally, I teach and run through the songs during my Tuesday/Thursday sessions. The rehearsals are a way for us to run the songs/arrangements. Not everyone is able to make the rehearsals, so if you can’t please let me know.
- We arrive at 10:00 to start the set up/get ready for noon start time
- Anyone is invited to come out and hang out/watch, even if you are not planning on playing the songs with us and if you are only planning on playing a couple songs, still hang out with us after. It’s a great way to meet & greet fellow jammers. And let me tell you, there are some great people here! Bring friends/family/significant others/etc.
- There’s no fee for this to cover the space, but we really want to support Freewheel by eating and drinking thereby incentivizing them to invite us back regularly.
