UPDATE: We are changing this and pushing the back date. During the monthly meetup, I'll show some prints and talk about the printer, and other brands of resin printers, to anyone who is interested. We'll talk about some of the logistical challenges with this printer in the space.
Previously:
In this hands-on demo, participants will experience the precision and workflow of the FormLabs Form 3 SLA resin printer from start to finish. The session introduces the entire process of turning a digital model into a smooth, high-resolution physical object — perfect for miniatures, custom game pieces, or detailed prototypes.
What we cover:
- PreForm Software – Learn how to prepare a digital design for resin printing. We’ll walk through importing a model, orienting it for best print quality, and generating automatic supports.
- Printer Setup – See how the Form 3 uses its Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) technology, with a laser curing liquid resin layer by layer to achieve detail down to 25 microns.
- Printing Process – Watch the machine in action as it builds your design out of liquid resin.
- Removing the Print – Learn safe handling: opening the build chamber, detaching the print from the build platform, and clipping away supports.
- Post-Processing – Introduction to rinsing parts in isopropyl alcohol, optional curing with the Form Cure station, and final sanding or finishing steps.
Takeaway:
By the end, participants understand not just how resin 3D printing works in theory, but the real, tactile steps of creating and finishing a professional-quality print.
