Session #1 - Distributed SQL Databases by Denis Magda
Abstract
Distributed SQL Databases: The Whys and Hows
Combine the popular SQL interface and the strong consistency of relational databases with the horizontal scalability of NoSQL data stores. You’ll get a distributed SQL database, a relatively new category of relational DBs.

This talk introduces you to the whys and hows of distributed SQL.

First, we’ll find out why the world needs yet another database category. Next, we’ll discuss how these databases are designed and function internally. Lastly, we’ll learn when and how applications should use distributed SQL.
