Urban Hike -Eldred St Stairs, Moderate + +

Join us AT 6:00 PM ** for an evening urban hike that will take us thru some long steep hills, including Eldred St. With a grade of 33%, it is the steepest street in Los Angeles. We will also conquer a few long staircases, all going UP. We will also enoy a short trek through Moon Cyn.
LEVEL: Moderate ++ for brisk pace, STEEP hills and long staircases. My pace is a bit fast, but will pause briefly at top of hills and stairs to regroup, and to pet doggies. Not a beginner hike. You must be able to keep up with the group. You can use the second staircase and hill as an indicator of the pace. There is no sweep.
LENGTH: appx 5 miles, 2 hours.
BRING: exercise clothes, workout shoes (hiking shoes are not necessary as trail sections are short), poles optional, sunscreen, water, phone with GPS in case u want to leave early, bug repellant? Flashlight is ok but careful not to aim at people's faces.
MEETUP SPOT: *Southwest Museum of the American Indian ** Los Angeles, CA . . You may have to Google directions manually as the Meetup link might be wonky.
MEETUP TIME: 6:00 pm sharp. We have quick introductions and leave promptly at 6:05.
PARKING: FREE Street parking along Museum Dr and Marmion Way.
RESTROOMS: None at the start. Arrive early and go to Superior Grocers on Figueroa and W Ave 45. Maybe halfway IF the rec center is open.
Water Break: At the rec center halfway through the hike.
LIABILITY: The organizer is an uncompensated and untrained volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries, health issues, material losses, assessing all risks and for getting lost. Each member shall make their guests aware of these policies and releases the host from all liability.
