Urban Stair Hike in San Rafael (Eagle Rock/Pasadena), Level: Moderate+

Come join us for a great workout, for exploring nice neighborhoods and for meeting new people! We'll hike on the winding hill roads of Poppy Peak and San Rafael, beautiful parts of Pasadena. This time we'll go in reverse and finish with exploring the hills in Eagle Rock.

LEVEL: Intermediate Plus for speed and for two multi-set staircases, otherwise moderate. We are a friendly group that loves to socialize and encourages newcomers, but please note that moderate+ level of cardio fitness and walking speed are required.

LENGTH: 5.5 miles, 9 staircases up and 4 down. Elevation gain is 975ft. This is a bit easier than our hardest stair hikes, but if you are new to stairs it is still a challenge. +/- 2 1/4h.

SPEED: Brisk, above most moderate hikes, but well below advanced ones. We will take a quick pause to re-group at the top of the stairs and steep hills. There will be no sweep, bring your phone for navigation just in case you want to leave early.

BRING: Exercise outfit, workout shoes (no hiking shoes needed) and water.

MEETING POINT: We meet at 6pm for introductions and take off sharply at 6.05pm. If you are running just a few minutes late minutes late you can catch us at corner of Laurel Bay Dr. and Elmwood Dr.

RESTROOMS: At Vons or another business. None along the way.

PARKING: Free street parking around the shopping area. Lot parking at your own risk.

PLEASE NO CRASHING! Urban hikes do not work well with large groups so, unfortunately, space is limited. I "overbook" events in anticipation of some last-minute dropouts, so you cannot assume that those spots will be available. The waitlist, if necessary, generally clears in order. Members with a good attendance record and a posted picture (LA Hiking Group rule) may get some priority.

LIABILITY: The organizer is an untrained and unpaid volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries and health issues, assessing all risks, for any material losses and for getting lost. Each member agrees to make their guests aware of this, also, and releases the host from all liability.
