LA LitFan Meetup for August: A Long Long Way by Sebastian Barry

Details
For August, we'll be discussing A Long Long Way by Sebastian Barry. We'll be meeting at 3 PM (not 5 PM) at Bob and Sara's place in Santa Monica. We'll also have zoom access for anyone who can't make it in person.
Note - rather than a pot luck dinner, we'll have pot luck coffee and snacks. Please note in the comments what you're able to bring. If someone can pick up a box of coffee, too, that would be great.

In 1914, Willie Dunne leaves behind Dublin, his family, and the girl he plans to marry to enlist in the Allied forces and face the Germans. There he encounters a horror of violence and gore he could not have imagined and sustains his spirit with only the words the camaraderie of the Irish boys who fight and die by his side. Willie returns to Ireland to find a world split by forces closer to home. With grace and power, Sebastian Barry vividly renders Willie’s personal struggle as well as the overwhelming consequences of war.
If you'd like to join the book discussion, please RSVP. If your plans change, please be considerate and update your RSVP. No shows will be removed from the group.
