What we’re about
The Los Angeles Reading Club - Thursday Nights
Come to The Los Angeles Reading Club prepared to advocate for your next great read. Every member gets the chance to pitch their book choice to the group, followed by a democratic vote to determine what everyone will read together. Bring a compelling presentation—whether it's a fun PowerPoint, creative slides, or any format that showcases why your book deserves the group's attention.
The Three-Meeting Cycle:
Book Pitch Night: Members present their book recommendations with slides covering plot, author background, and what makes this book worth reading together. The group votes to select the winner.
Midpoint Discussion: Halfway through the chosen book, members read a chapter together and discuss what they've read so far, sharing predictions and insights over snacks.
Final Discussion: The group explores themes, analyzes characters, and reflects on key takeaways from the completed read.
Community Structure:
The Los Angeles Reading Club organizes readers into cohorts of 10 people, sorted by age groups for better conversation flow and connection. This intimate size ensures everyone can participate meaningfully in discussions while building genuine friendships around shared reading.
Club Philosophy:
The Los Angeles Reading Club believes friendship and connection aren't luxuries—they're infrastructure! Reading becomes richer when experienced collectively, whether members are presenting book recommendations or debating interpretations over healthy snacks. Every perspective adds value to collective understanding.
