Read to Kids or Socialize with Adults (LA)
Details
Hi friends!
About a week ago, in light of the government shutdown and the SNAP / food stamps program -- I thought of helping with a food distribution event...but something happened (indelible) the past two days with a kid -- so I feel inspired to get involved with kids this weekend.
During the past few years, I've noticed some kids are struggling with reading, spelling, writing, etc...
A wonderful organization, Reading to Kids, bring volunteers on one Saturday each month, and they read to elementary school kids in a few schools in/near downtown LA.

If anyone is interested, learn more and sign up to volunteer at

If space is full, check back because they sometimes get last minute cancellations (openings).
btw, regarding the address / location -- I didn't post one because Gratts Elementary School might be full -- so please feel free to sign up for another school / location (if there's room).
Oh, and I've helped with this a few times -- and I feel the other volunteers are friendly, and the kids participating are usually delightful.
Each volunteer is paired with a reading partner, so there will be another adult with you...so no need to feel nervous with the kids. haha

Afterward (around 12:15 pm or so), volunteers are invited to meet at a nearby Mexican restaurant to eat lunch and socialize.

I might stick around in LA to do something between 2 - 3 pm.
If anyone is available in the after 3 pm and wants to volunteer elsewhere or get together to talk (or play board games if we get enough people) -- feel free to lmk.

Next weekend is my last children's camp for this year (Florida) -- and I hope to do more volunteering in LA and OC...so I'll probably try to share more volunteer opportunities in the upcoming weeks & months.
Okay...I hope you all are doing well. Cheers!
