Woodson is great for a butt kicking hike and fun bouldering on the way back down. Most of the time we can catch a great a great sunset at the top.

Bring a headlamp,water, snacks , and tape (for your hands!).

Better Directions: The meetup directions to this location will leave you a good mile from the trail head. So here are better directions -

From the South: get on the 67 heading East. Go past Poway Road up over a big hill and there will be a large mountain with boulders all over it to your left. That's Woodson. You should see a bunch of cars parked on the left side. There's a road - Mt Woodson Rd on the left with a turn lane where you can turn around to park. There is a US Forest Service sign on the corner and "Hiking Trail" sign.

From the North - head out the 78 until you get to Ramona. Turn Right on the 67. Drive for a few miles until the road turns back into a two lane road. Mt. Woodson is directly on your Right. Park where all the cars are parked along the road. There is a US Forest Service sign on the corner and "Hiking Trail" sign.
