Details
Lost The Plot brings to you yet another double whammy night. A book reading AND a movie screening! The weekend is already looking alive. So if you're looking for a quiet evening with some great food & cocktails, then cancel all other plans! This April 23rd we have Pervin Saket, author of 'Urmila' performing a live book reading for you folks at 7PM. This is followed by Sita Sings the Blues! The film draws comparisons between the story of Sita, separated from & then betrayed by her beloved Lord & husband Rama, & Nina herself, whose boyfriend moves to India & dumps her by email. Set to the melodic blues music of 1920s Jazz starlet Annette Hanshaw, this gem will leave you not bitter but wanting to fall headfirst in love with 'love' itself!

About 'Urmila' the novel:
Inspired by the forgotten wife from the Ramayana, 'Urmila' traces a woman's tale of rejection & her passionate search for love. Set in contemporary India, the book rekindles questions of devotion & desire in 21st-century relationships. The talented Urmila Karmarkar has recently married into a wealthy, politically-connected family in suburban Mumbai. When Urmila's brother-in-law Purushottam is compelled to move to Dubai, her husband leaves her behind & chooses to follow him instead. Fuelled by this rejection and her loneliness, Urmila seeks solace in her art as she battles to keep her dreams of love & motherhood alive. Will her husband emerge from the shadows and claim his place beside her? Or will she remain voiceless like another Urmila from another time, once again ignored and forgotten?
P.S. - We now have Bira Beer on tap! Who says weekends have to be sober ;)
