"The Long Walk" is a dystopian novel by Stephen King, published under his pseudonym Richard Bachman, where 100 teenage boys participate in a grueling annual walking contest in a totalitarian America. The contestants must maintain a steady pace of four miles per hour without stopping. Receiving three warnings for failing to maintain the required speed results in execution by soldiers. The last walker standing wins "The Prize," which is anything they want for the rest of their lives.
